Since it started in 1997, the Ruggies Recycling program has
raised more than $650,000 for Princess Margaret Hospital. Each
year the funds are directed to an area of the hospital that will
benefit most from additional financial assistance.
1997 |
$15,265 went to the hospital’s Megazone,
a play area inside PMH for the children that helps “heal
through happiness”. |
1998-99 |
A total of $133,413 went towards buying equipment and
supporting the Adolescent Unit, Activity Co-ordinators and
providing parent accommodation. |
2000-01 |
$174,042 was used to help buy equipment for the Neonatal
Unit, which included ventilators and vital signs monitors. |
2002-03 |
$220,570 has been earmarked to help fund the creation
of a world-class Rehabilitation Centre in the hospital’s
existing Hay Street Building. |
2004-05 |
$150,000 has been allocated to acquire new lightweight
vital sign monitors that will attach to the WANTS cots that
are used to
transport infants in the RFDS aircraft.

| 2006-07 |
$185,000 has acquired for the sick kids in PMH a wide range of equipment from blood gas monitors, audiology testing instruments and body temperature lowering blankets - all with funds raised through the Ruggies Recycling program. |
